Overview
Designed an auto oil-brush washer cleaning 5 brushes/min without residue. Iterated 5 prototypes; patent pending and used in BNDS art classes.
Abstract
This paper presents the design, development, and deployment of a portable automatic brush rinsing device that enhances the efficiency and quality of brush cleaning for artists. Addressing the limitations of manual brush washing, the device integrates a compact motorized mechanism with a multi-stage cleaning process to achieve thorough cleaning in under 12 seconds per brush. Key innovations include a novel brush-holding mechanism, optimized fluid dynamics for effective residue removal, and a user-friendly interface. The prototype underwent five iterations based on user feedback and testing, demonstrating significant improvements in cleaning performance. The device is currently pending patent approval and has been successfully deployed in art classes at Beijing National Day School, receiving positive feedback from students and educators alike.
