Overview
About PivotHack
PivotHack is China’s first high school student-led nation-wide hackathon, dedicated to fostering innovation and collaboration among young tech enthusiasts. Founded in 2025, PivotHack was conceived by three high school students who recognized the need for a platform that encourages creativity and collaboration for China's teenage dreamers, doers, and changers. With help and resources from the school and sponsors, we turned that vision into reality in three months.
The First Spark of an Idea
I initiated the concept and led the process from formation to execution—assembling the core team, building partnerships, securing official support, coordinating logistics, and overseeing event operations.
Theme and Impact
PivotHack centered on the theme of AI-for-Good, inviting participants to confront emerging challenges in AI ethics, education, and accessibility. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as abstraction, we encouraged teams to prototype tangible, socially grounded solutions.
The hackathon attracted over 50 applicants from across the country, with 28 talented participants admitted to form 7 teams and work on their projects. During the event, the contestants spent 48 hours on-campus with full accommodation and meals, collaborating intensively to develop their prototypes. The hackathon culminated in final presentations to a panel of venture capitalists, industry mentors, and educators, who offered critical feedback and potential pathways toward further development and funding.
